Tehran got relief from international sanctions in exchange for curbing its nuclear activities. However, it continues to test launch ballistic missiles and rockets capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

Commissioning of second South Korean APR1400 postponed.
The completion of South Korea’s APR1400 nuclear power plant has been delayed by ten months, said South Korean Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP). The APR1400 would now be expected to start up in September 2018, which was originally planned to be completed this November.

According to the Los Angeles Times, President Trump made false claims regarding US arsenal. He tweeted that ‘my first order as President was to renovate and modernize our nuclear arsenal’. W.J. Hennigan (Pentagon and national security issues reporter from the Los Angeles Times’ Washington, D.C., bureau, confessed that he did not make any such orders.
US destroyer challenges China’s claims in the South China Sea.
A US Navy destroyer carried out a “freedom of navigation operation”, coming within 12 nautical miles of an artificial island built up by China in the South China Sea. The operation was the latest attempt to counter what Washington sees as Beijing’s efforts to limit freedom of navigation in the strategic waters of South China Sea.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson, Nafees Zakaria, said that Pakistan is committed to the goal of Nuclear Disarmament to promote peace, stability and security at regional and global levels through the conclusion of a universal, verifiable and non-discriminatory, comprehensive convention on nuclear weapons.
India awards contract for fast reactor fuel cycle facility.
Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has been awarded a contract worth INR 7.64 billion ($120 million) by India’s Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) to construct a fast reactor fuel cycle facility at Kalpakkam. The fast reactor fuel cycle facility is the fourth construction contract awarded to HCC by IGCAR.
